The Rosendale Theatre Collective, is bringing the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” to the Rosendale Theatre on Saturday, October 29. Doors open at 8:00 and the show starts soon after with some instructions for virgins (first time film goers) and a costume contest with prizes.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been playing regularly as a midnight movie for more than 30 years. This film is the ultimate cult classic: Shadow Casts act out numbers from the film while the movie plays and encourages the raucous humor and call backs from the often costumed audience. The Live Performers in Rosendale includes: Doug Motel, John Cox, Dylan Johanson, Nikki Vly, Timothy Bruck, Carrie Wykoff and others!

This notorious horror parody — a fast-paced potpourri of camp, sci-fi and rock ‘n’ roll, among other things — tracks the exploits of naïve couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) after they stumble upon the lair of transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). The film — a bizarre musical co-starring Meat Loaf and Richard O’Brien — bombed in its initial release but later gained a cult following. Rocky Horror is the longest running film in history, a rock and roll classic that defined in-theater interactive entertainment

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the ultimate cult classic, we are so thrilled to dust off our fishnets and bring it back to Rosendale!” states Carrie Wykoff, Secretary of the Board of Directors at The Rosendale Theatre.

Not for the faint of heart, the movie is packed with raucous and racy humor. Rocky Horror is an R rated film anyone under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian and no one under the age of 12 will be admitted.

Prop bags will also be for sale for $5.00.

Funds raised from the evening will be applied to ongoing renovations of The Rosendale Theatre. The mission of the Rosendale Theatre Collective is to preserve and operate the Rosendale Theatre, a historic Main Street anchor business crucial to the economic stability of downtown Rosendale, New York, and the cultural life of Rosendale and Ulster County residents through a multidisciplinary approach of arts and education programming, thereby raising the quality of life in our diverse community. rosendaletheatre.dreamhosters.com
