Cinemaniacs is the teen advisory programming committee for the Rosendale Theatre. By bringing in everything from new releases to cult classics and combining them with social events, we strive to create a space where area teens like us can come together around great films, fun events, and delicious snacks.
Classic film favorites and classic film discoveries.
That’s what the “Classic Film Series” is all about! Films we’ve carried with us for years and films we somehow missed that we’d love to discover. Domestic favorites and wonderful international surprises. From the thrilling to the joyful to the quietly thoughtful. And with plenty of discoveries along the way.
Come join us!
The Filmmaker’s Series is designed to offer our audiences a better understanding of filmmaking as an art and craft, from conceptualization to production, from editing to marketing.
“Representation Matters” has long been a rallying cry for the LGBTQ community since the stories we consume have the power to shape how we see other people—and ourselves. The Rosendale Theatre has screened some of the most beloved LGBTQ movies of all time, ranging from subtle and quiet to political and groundbreaking.
Beginning in 2014, this curated showcase of the best music-based films has been packing the house. As the Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ proved, the best music biopics can have a cultural impact that goes far beyond devoted fans. In our ongoing commitment to bring more music to our stage, we’re planning live concerts.
National Theatre Live brings the best of British theatre to cinema screens across the UK and around the world. With state-of-the-art filming techniques, tailored to every play, we film our plays in front of a live theatre audience, but optimise everything for the big screen so it’s the next best thing to being there. The actors on stage deliver their performances as they normally would any other night. But to make sure our audiences watching in cinema have the best seat in the house, we tailor the position of our cameras to capture each production and work closely with technical teams to make sure every element on stage such as lighting, hair and make-up look fantastic on the big screen.
Prosendale is a literary series that takes place every few months at the Rosendale Theatre to celebrate various writing genres (memoirs, history, etc.), commemorative events (Pride Month, Women’s History Month, etc.), or themes (pets, nature, etc.). Whether you’re a writer yourself (or are interested perhaps in becoming one), an avid reader, or someone who loves to listen to stories, come join us to hear local authors read aloud their works and have the opportunity to ask them questions about their writing.
Every month, Saturday Creature Features promises fun, retro monster movies with full sound on the BIG SCREEN! The classic (and the wonderfully campy!) monster movies we grew up with! Dracula, Frankenstein, Alien Invaders, Flying Saucers, Mad Scientists, Giant Monsters and enough Atomic Mayhem to delight the whole family! Costumes are always encouraged and games will be played! Come by for the fun!
Here are 100s of terrific Spaghetti Westerns you might have missed! That’s what this series is all about!
Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone will be here— but that’s not the end of the story.
If you are one of those keen movie watchers, who like to travel back in time to experience the glamour of earlier cinematic eras, The Rosendale Theatre Collective’s Silent Sunday’s film series with live piano accompaniment by Marta Waterman is perfect for you.
