"In addition to providing a healthier environment, our work has enhanced the overall health of this historic building. For the many people who contributed over this past year we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation.”
-Fre Atlast
Board President & Chair, Facilities Committee

MODERNIZING, RENOVATING & ENHANCING

When the community purchased the building 11 years ago, the Collective hit the ground running as an arts organization. A group of intrepid Volunteers took on the responsibility of completely renovating the lobby, facilities, installing new carpet and flooring, a dance floor and painting the entire theatre.

Additionally, the Theatre will be expanding its projection booth, and a tavern license for beer and wine is in process. These improvements are being made possible by private donations from community members and the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program championed by Senator Chuck Schumer.

VENTILATION AND AIR FILTRATION

Our new state-of-the-art air filtration and ventilation systems have been installed, making significant improvements in the air quality throughout the building.  Local architect Rick Alfandre of Alfandre Architecture (New Paltz) donated services from his firm to help navigate the process.  This system will provide the theater and stage areas with heating, cooling, and fresh air during occupied hours.

The ventilation system is designed to operate as a demand control system. Sensors in the theater will measure the CO2 levels, and as CO2 levels rise due to increased occupants, the system will increase the amount of fresh air being delivered. This allows the system to reduce the amount of outside air during periods of low use and is energy efficient.

During all occupied times, the system will be providing the code-required amount of ventilation. Other energy-saving features of this system include variable speed compressors to modulate the speed of the cooling system to better match the load in the space, control humidity, and save energy. Low sound condenser fans with ECM motors are also provided. Combined all of these features contribute to a system that is 1.5x more efficient than the current ASHRAE 90.1 IEER standard.

Another feature of this system is the UV-C duct lamps that are installed on the return air system. This will provide airborne disinfection of the return of recirculated air in the space.  Also, the unit is equipped with MERV 13 filters to filter the return air and the fresh air being delivered to help reduce the amount of airborne particulate and clean the air as the system operates.
