This new work composed by trumpet player Rebecca Coupe Franks combines classical elements and jazz forms in six movements all named after nature found in the New Paltz, NY area. The music is played by a small chamber ensemble plus brass and percussion. The fluent, wistful, beautiful melodies are memorable, with improvised sections throughout the piece highlighted by Franks’ incomparable trumpet solos. Currently, Franks teaches at SUNY New Paltz in the music department where she will be offering a new course in Spring 2024,”Women in Music” which will focus on women composers from 1600 to present. The performance will be enhanced by photography by Jeff Goldman.
