The legendary Tap dance phenom Brenda Bufalino, turning 85 years young this year, celebrates her birthday with a rare local appearance on the Rosendale Theatre stage, tap dancing, singing, and telling stories. Also featured will be a sneak peek of a new documentary by her dear friend and co-founder – Tony Waag, the Director of The American Tap Dance Foundation. So join us as we celebrate with this extraordinary tap dance trailblazer accompanied by two of the area’s top jazz masters, Teri Roiger and John Menegon.
Spotlight on Brenda Bufalino :
Ms. Bufalino is a mixed-genre artist: dancer, choreographer, author, and ceramicist. As a soloist and choreographer/director of The American Tap Dance Orchestra, Ms. Bufalino has performed and taught Internationally for over 30 years. Her collaborations with her partner and mentor, the marvelous Charles ‘Honi’ Coles, and her many performances with the late Gregory Hines, the Nicholas Brothers, and the many giants of tap dance have infused her with the essence of the form that she now shares with her stories, teaching, and dances.
About John and Teri:
An American jazz musician, vocalist, pianist, songwriter, educator, and producer, Teri Roiger has performed throughout the US and as a feature of major jazz festivals. The depth of her experiences and love of jazz is apparent when she brings all her talents to bear in her live performances and through her moving lyrics and compositions. John Menegon, a bassist in demand in the NYC jazz circles, has performed/recorded with Dewey Redman, David “Fathead” Newman, Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, and more. In addition, Teri and John are the producers of JAZZSTOCK, presenting world-renowned jazz artists in Kingston and throughout the Hudson Valley.
