We have partnered with Asbury Shorts USA, a national touring short film  showcase, to present an exciting two-day exhibition of internationally honored shorts.

The two programs  feature an eclectic mix of award-winning short film comedy, drama, documentary and animation selections and will include a few shorts produced and directed by local area filmmakers.

The two-day screening is recommended for ages 16 and way above.

Saturday May 6th:
“Test”  Filmmaker:  Jeremiah Wenutu.
Synopsis:  A test subject gets more than he bargained for during a simple taste test in this dark comedy.  Locally shot in the Hudson Valley, “TEST” took home the Audience Choice Award when it debuted at the Tales From the Catskills Film Competition last year.
“Javalina”     Filmmaker:  Louis  a short film funded by HUDSY TV’s community content fund, Synopsis: ‘Javelina’ follows Ellie the day before middle school starts as she overcomes her fear of the new neighbor’s mysterious pet.
Sunday May 7th:

“How To Live with a Friend, If You Have To”   Filmmaker: Steven Teitter   Synopsis: A guide of the trials and tribulations of living with a friend! The good, the bad, and everything in between and, ultimately, how we grow as people

“Escape!”   Filmmakers:  The students in Youth Ensemble Theater at The Rosendale Theatre.
Awarded 1st place, “Best Film 2022” in the Tales From the Catskills Amateur Film Competition.

The Rosendale Theatre is a vital and diverse cultural Hudson Valley nonprofit organization. They use the power of film and live performance to entertain, educate and inspire connection. The Rosendale Theater Collective believes in the power of art and film to create meaningful community. The Rosendale Theatre Collective strives to provide an inclusive environment and welcomes diversity.

Asbury Shorts USA annually  screens globally honored films from past years mixed with new festival honorees, creating a rare opportunity for audiences to see world-class short films on a real cinema screen as opposed to YouTube, smartphones, or computers. Academy Award nominated director and former Asbury Shorts guest host Jason Reitman (‘JUNO,’ ‘Up in the Air,’ ‘Thank You for Smoking,’ ‘Young Adult,’ ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’) calls Asbury Shorts: “The best short film show I’ve ever experienced.”
