“Good Fortune”, a new film by celebrated filmmakers, Josh and Rebecca Tickell, who worked for three and a half years to curate the story of “Good Fortune”, which centers around the rags-to-riches life story of John Paul DeJoria, the co-founder of both Paul Mitchell hair care products and Patron tequila. About the project, they mused: “Why we worked so hard on this story can be summed up in two words, “Conscious Capitalism.” This phrase, made popular after Whole Foods’ founder John Mackey’s book with the same title came out, defines a way of conducting business whereby a company measures its success by its impact on people, planet and profit.
The Tickells will introduce the film to the audience live via Skype. This screening was arranged to benefit Rosendale Theater by Accord, NY- based Paul E McGinniss’ UnitedStatesofGreen in collaboration with the filmmakers’ Big Picture Ranch in Ojai, California.
The LA times called “Good Fortune”…”Rousing, upbeat and often moving.”
Deadline Hollywood said… “Good Fortune” is a fascinating and compelling documentary study of one man’s incredible rags to riches story. Inspiring doesn’t begin to describe it. A Must See!”
The Tickells note about JP DeJoria: “We think of JP as a modern-day Robin Hood, (without the thieving). His story of growing up in foster care, being in gangs, becoming homeless (twice) and founding successful companies based on the principles of giving back is, as the Hollywood Reporter says, “A feel-good inspirational story. The most benevolent Hell’s Angel you’ll ever hope to meet…”
A special event will take place right after the film. Following the screening, Bradley Farm (317 Springtown Road, New Paltz), will continue to celebrate our “Good Fortune.” Ticket holders can present their tickets and enjoy 10% off their first drink of NYS craft beer, wine or hard cider on tap, plus there will be small bites of farm fresh food specials available for purchase a la carte.
