Join the Women’s Studio Workshop for the second part of the opening day celebration for au•gust art festival with live music by Rosendale Improvement Association Brass Band & Social Club, Emily Speed’s sculptural performance and enjoy cocktails and opening remarks by our special guests. We are very excited to present the video festival Shoulder Land curated by Dani Leventhal at 6pm. This program of experimental film and video features six artists who communicate complex ideas and deep emotional states of humanity’s impact on the land and on each other. Shoulder Land features Peggy Ahwesh, Nancy Andrews, Carolyn Lambert, Jeanne Liotta, Rachel Stuckey, and Deirtra Thompson.
Curator Dani Leventhal writes, Using animation, found footage, and live action, this program of experimental film and video features the work of six artists who communicate complex ideas and deep emotional states of humanity’s impact on the land and on each other. Alternative versions of past, present, and future yield dystopic geographies. Something is being birthed out of this, something like a warning.
More than thirty selected local, national, and international artists will present con[temporary] videos, installations, performance art and sculptures along the mile of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail that links the WSW studios to Rosendale. For more details, please visit wsworkshop.org.
