You’ll be shocked, too! Packaged foods reputed to be healthy and wholesome eating turn out to be loaded with SUGAR. “That Sugar Film,” a documentary suitable for the whole family in the vein of “Supersize Me,” will be screened on Tuesday February 2 and Wednesday February 3 by Rosendale Theatre in collaboration with the Roundout Valley Holistic Health Community. Film maker Damon Gameau embarks on a unique 2 month experiment to document the effect of a high sugar diet on a healthy body; the twist is that he consumed only processed foods that are commonly perceived as “good for you.” On February 3 there will be post film discussion featuring local food activists. It is now ranked as the highest grossing Australian documentary of all time. Variety calls it “Fast-paced, entertaining and informative,” and goes on to say, “With its peppy, pop style, complete with silly, colorful special effects and animation, this documentary should prove accessible to school-age viewers, who might profit the most from its frank information about sugar’s effect on their minds and bodies.”
