Orange and red leaves crush under foot, the aroma of baking apples and pumpkin bread fills the air, and our hearts thrill at memories from crisp autumn days past. It’s time to celebrate our harvest season with “Tales of the Hudson Valley” a live theatrical performance adapted from Washington Irving’s “Rip van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” which is returning to Rosendale Theatre, sponsored by Westwood Metes and Bounds Realty, for three performances. There will be one performance only for the general public on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 am. Approximately one hour in length and featuring familiar actors Frank Marquette, Sheila Dvorak, and Matthew Santiago with live music/sound effects by Fre Atlast, “Tales” is made to delight the entire family.
Washington Irving, America’s first man of letters, wrote these classic stories set in the Hudson Valley. Local theater artist Ann Citron directs the performance, which was adapted by playwright Edward Versailles. Making its premiere in 2014, “Tales” is highly entertaining, humorous and insightful. Back by popular demand, “Tales” has become an annual autumn tradition—like apple picking and enjoying our brilliant foliage. Three actors play a total of 22 different characters, which is a very entertaining concept in itself.
