Tony Manero (John Travolta) doesn’t have much going for him during the weekdays. He still lives at home and works
as a paint store clerk in his Brooklyn, N.Y., neighborhood. But he lives for the weekends, when he and his friends go to the local disco and dance the night away. When a big dance competition is announced, he wrangles the beautiful and talented Stephanie (Karen Lynn Gorney) to be his partner. As the two train for the big night, they start to fall for each other as well.
The Rosendale Theatre invites you to polish up your Brooklynese, dig deep into your closet, pull out the polyester, buckle up the platforms, spray up the ‘do, and head back to Brooklyn 1977 for a dazzlingly digitized presentation of Saturday Night Fever on Saturday, June 30, 2018. But this time baby, you and your disco finery are the star of the show! You’re singing falsetto with the Bee Gees! You’re going to dance in the aisles and channel your inner disco divas, Tony Manero and Stephanie Mangano, baby! You’re going to keep on dancing after the film under an electric haze to the 120 bpm rhythms of DJ Jesse!
The first of this planned series of Dress Up Cinema community-building, fun-fundraiser events will feature dancing fuel delicacies to munch on in your boogie shoes. Raffles of new and vintage Saturday Night Fever memorabilia, His-and-Hers Tony Manero Dress-Up Starter Kits, gift certificates to local restaurants and shops, a four-hour DJ session, and other bling that will make you strut your stuff in the costume parade to the applause of the crowd.
