“The Assistant”, starring Julia Garner (Ozark) and written and directed by Kitty Green, tells the story of an assistant to a high-power, abusive executive. Kitty Green is an award winning Australian film director, editor, producer, and screenwriter. Majority of her projects have been documentaries, Casting JonBenet (2017) and Ukraine Is Not a Brothel (2013), while only one has been a narrative driven story. Green produced, directed, wrote, and edited the 2019 film The Assistant.

Upstate Women In Film & Television (UPWIFT) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that supports women in film, television and digital media. We endeavor to increase opportunities for women in the field by increasing public and industry awareness of women’s achievements and stature via providing news and targeted programs for members and the public. We provide training, professional development, and networking opportunities. We also amplify the broader efforts of other organizations in our area. Additionally, we advocate for equity of access, inclusion and compensation for women.
