You can’t throw a party celebrating weird, gay cinema without inviting the Pope of Trash! Closing out our series is John Waters’ literal cinematic stinker Polyester, presented in Odorama!
Polyester tells the tale of keen-nosed suburban housewife, Francine Fishpaw, played by John Waters’ muse, Divine. Beset by delinquent children, an adulterous, pornographer husband, and a cocaine-fueled mother from hell, Francine’s world collapses around her in utterly melodramatic fashion, in this Douglas Sirk flavored send-up of exploitative, b-movie “women’s pictures”.
We’re thrilled to be able to present this film in Odorama, as John Waters intended. Audience members will receive a scratch and sniff card featuring such delightful scents as: roses, airplane glue, dirty sneakers, and more! These faithful recreations of the original 3M Odorama cards were created by Smell Art, an “olfactory arts” organization based out of Melbourne, Australia.
