The Queer Liberation Working Group of Mid-Hudson Valley Democratic Socialists of America
“The Queer Liberation Working Group of Mid-Hudson Valley Democratic Socialists of America will host a talk on Harvey Milk who is the first openly LGBTQ+ public official in California and one of the first in the United States. We intend to hold a discussion around what it means to achieve queer liberation and how this differs from public tolerance. We believe queer liberation is not solely a political movement for civil rights; it is a movement to dismantle oppressive systems like heteronormativity, cisnormativity, and capitalism. Harvey Milk is a queer icon and we want to celebrate his legacy of queer civil rights organizing while striving for a world of not just queer tolerance, but celebration.”
This film is presented by Big Gay Hudson Valley and the Rosendale Theatre Collective.
