Come and celebrate World Oceans Day in Rosendale! All are invited to Main Street to celebrate and support the life and livelihood that the ocean sustains.
At The Rosendale Theatre, we are screening the award-winning documentary, My Octopus Teacher. This beautiful film follows the Story of the Year Craig Foster Spent With a Wild Octopus.
Craig, suffering from a loss of purpose, begins a daily diving regimen in the freezing kelp forests at the tip of Africa to re-energize himself. What he discovers below the water’s surface is an alien motivation in the form of an unusually curious octopus. This beautiful record of an animal’s entire life—something seldom achieved in the wild, let alone underwater—was shot over a whole year and explores the habits and personality of a strange, undulating creature.
For many, this will be the first time seeing this film as it was made to be seen on a big screen.
Other World Ocean Day Events:
Watercolor demonstration by artist Doug Motel, 371 Main Street (behind the barber shop), 4 – 7 PM, aquatic culinary offerings at The Big Cheese, curated books about the ocean at Postmark Books and more.
