In the Lobby – Laurie Sammons – Exploration

I am a pastel artist in the Hudson Valley in New York.  Through my paintings I celebrate the joy, beauty and humor of the world, with subjects ranging from people and animals to landscapes and small scale nature vignettes.  Through a rich and complex use of color, my paintings create and share emotions, from the serenity of a quiet walk on a woodland trail, to the humor of a dog’s smile or a donkey’s quizzical look.  In addition to pastels as my medium of choice my recent artistic endeavors are enjoying a new phase of exploration.  I am experimenting with painting in other mediums and am also having some fun with paper mache.  Visual art gives me the opportunity to express my creativity, sensitivity and humor.  I’m very grateful for that.
