The primary responsibility of the Rosendale Theatre Front of House (FoH) Manager is to oversee the Front of House operations of the organization, making sure that all necessary work takes place and that FoH employees, volunteers and contractors understand their roles and work in harmony. Front of House is generally defined as all aspects of ticketing, food and beverage service, maintenance of concessions equipment, monitoring heating/cooling systems, minor repairs, upkeep of the outside of the building and general hospitality that are public-facing.
The FoH Manager is directly supervised by the Managing Director.
The FoH Manager ensures proper management by prioritizing and organizing tasks, delegating duties, overseeing workflow and assessing performance.
The FoH Manager is also responsible for assisting in promoting healthy growth of the organization by monitoring all sources of revenue, such as box office donations, memberships, special fundraising events and outside funding opportunities as directed by Theatre Director of Board of Directors (BoD).
The FoH Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a culture of hospitality and inclusion with while increasing public awareness, attendance and community presence by ensuring that FoH activities are executed with a welcoming attitude by all FoH crew.
The FoH Manager works with the Board of Directors (BoD) to support BoD initiatives and respond to BoD concerns. The FoH Manager also reports any concerns to the BoD, alerting the BoD to upcoming issues of concern.
The BoD works with the FoH Manager to offer support in the form of time, expertise and counsel.

JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Front of House Director is a full time, hourly paid position; salary to be determined by the BoD.
The FoH Manager is expected to hold regular office hours at times agreed to by the BoD & Theatre Director. Office hours will generally overlap with showtimes, mostly being evenings and weekends, except as needed to maintain functional relationships with vendors, affiliate organizations and other RTC stakeholders.
The FoH Manager approves expenditures within the authority budget determined and delegated by the BoD and suggests vendors that align with the RTC mission for approval by the BoD & Theatre Director.
The FoH Manager is responsible for assigning and evaluating F0H staff activities.
The FoH Manager is responsible for maintaining the public-facing areas of the theater and keeping all inventory, employee, compliance and facilities documents up to date as delegated by the Theatre Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The FoH Manager reports in writing monthly to the Board via the Theatre Director at least 7 days before the next Board meeting.
The FoH Manager reports monthly on inventory and sales position relative to the BoD-approved budget, box office receipts by event and any other details requested by the BoD or Theatre Director.
The FoH Manager provides monthly updates on all outstanding, approved action items presented by BoD, Theatre Director and Committees.
The FoH Manager provides the Treasurer with information as requested to keep budget up-to-date.
The FoH Manager plans, schedules and executes strategy and special projects as directed and approved by BoD and Theatre Director.
FISCAL & OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The FoH Manager maintains an efficient and organized work environment, ensuring that all relevant correspondence is processed in a timely manner.
The FoH Manager maintains all FoH records with the support from staff and Theatre Director. The Theatre Director provides information, training and clarity as necessary to execute these goals.
The FoH Manager prepares bank deposits and daily box office and concessions banks. The FoH Manager ensures timely submission of bank and box office reports to Theatre Director, distributors, vendors and necessary committees.
The FoH Manager maintains all FoH inventory and creates purchase orders and receives merchandise, food & drink deliveries into inventory. The FoH Manager maintains and audits inventory fidelity weekly and submits sales and inventory integrity reports to the Theatre Director monthly, The FoH Manager alerts the Theatre Director immediately if any inventory discrepancies arise.
The FoH Manager ensures that all State and Federal beverage alcohol service regulations are strictly adhered to and that all FoH staff and volunteers are trained in NY State-approved Tips/ATAP programs in advance of service.
FoH Manager is responsible for ensuring that no guests are over-served and that they are offered options for remaining in the Theatre in advance of becoming overly intoxicated (offering water, soft drinks, etc.).
FoH Manager is responsible for ensuring that all guests consuming alcohol have been ID checked and that no guests are sharing beverages with patrons who have not been checked, especially in the auditorium.
FoH Manager is responsible for verbally requesting unruly guests leave the premises and contacting local law enforcement if they refuse to do so. At no time should the FoH Manager attempt to physically remove a guest unless they have become physically violent toward other guests.
The FoH Manager maintains all FoH materials necessary for service, comfort and a well-kept appearance (napkins, cups, toilet paper, etc.) and ensures that adequate, approved supplies are on-hand and inventoried in advance of showtime.
The FoH Manager coordinates with Tech Director and relevant event producers to ensure setup and breakdown are done properly as directed by the Theatre Director.
The FoH Manager, in coordination with Theatre Director, attends to all relevant compliance issues including Liquor Tax and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations, including beverage alcohol service and record-keeping.
The FoH Manager coordinates with the Theatre Director and Tech Director to ensure that all necessary components relevant to FoH for programming are in place for each show.
The FoH maintains cognizance of all relevant calendars in coordination with Theatre Director and Programing and Tech committee heads and provides FoH staff with direction about what needs to be done when. This may include assistance with showtime lighting and sound cues or other technical or production-oriented needs as delegated by the Theatre Director.
STAFF & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
The FoH Manager, in coordination with the Theatre Director, defines the scope of work of all FoH employees and oversees the work of all FoH staff, internal contractors and volunteers.
The FoH Manager oversees, trains and schedules all FoH staff, ensuring that adequate staffing and volunteers are present for all shows and special events. FoH Manager is responsible for ensuring any staff or volunteer absentees are filled prior to showtime and that the Theatre Director is aware of any changes to staffing.
The FoH Manager ensures that all opening and closing operations are completed before service and/or showtime and at end of night. The FoH manager is responsible for ensuring that the Theatre is locked and secured at the end of night unless another, explicitly Theatre Director of BoD-approved and trained person is available and all shutdown procedures have been executed.
The FoH Manager maintains the RTC Volunteer list and ensures that all roles are filled for each shift and sends volunteer reminders for upcoming shifts and alerts them when a show is cancelled.
The FoH Manager, in coordination with the Managing Director and BOD, plans and executes volunteer recruitment drives and volunteer appreciation initiatives and events as well as exploring volunteer recruitment opportunities and resources in the area.
The FoH Manager creates and updates volunteer training and Standard Operating Procedures in coordination with the Managing Director and Operations Committee and ensures that all FoH staff and volunteers are adequately trained.
The FoH Manager ensures that all necessary FoH employee and compliance documents are up-to-date and in order.
The FoH Manager assists the Managing Director in conducting annual employee and contractor reviews & provides compensation and job role recommendations in coordination with Theatre Director.
The Director works as directed by the Theatre Director to ensure the FoH is properly maintained and functional. The FoH Manager does this with the support of staff and BoD. (marquee, ticketing POS, sound system, refrigerators etc.)
GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC PLANNING
The FoH Manager regularly shares concepts with relevant staff and BoD members long-term strategy and workplace improvements.
The FoH Manager is a key public face of the RTC and ensures that RTC FoH staff represent the organization in ways consistent with the goals that have been set in coordination with the Managing Director and BoD.
The FoH Manager may be called upon by the Managing Director to assist with public events in which the RTC should be represented.
REVIEW
A meeting with the FoH Manager, Managing Director and designated members of the RTC Board will be conducted quarterly to assess progress of the goals and objectives agreed on by the Board and Directors.
