The Flamenco Festival culminates today at the Rosendale Theater with a performance by the Vanaver Caravan’s SummerDance On Tour company followed by a screening of the award-winning film La Chana. A Gypsy flamenco dancer returns to the stage to give a final seated performance after a 30 year break.

La Chana, directed by Lucjia Stojevic, chronicles one woman’s tumultuous career in flamenco bringing the audience under the skin and into the mind of the talented Gypsy flamenco dancer. Rising to international stardom, La Chana vanished from the public eye at the height of her career only to make an unprecedented return to the stage after a 30-year break.
La Chana has screened at more than 80 film festivals held across five continents. The soul-searching documentary earned honors as the winner of nine awards including: International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam Audience Award 2016; Gaudi Best Documentary 2018; Feroz Best Documentary 2018; FCE Nantes Best Documentary 2018; Dock of the Bay Sade Award and Audience Award 2018.
