“The Solitary Voice is a program exploring varieties of the expression possible on a four-string un-amplified wooden instrument: the unaccompanied violin. The result is a lot like hearing traditional story-telling; the tone is personal and revelatory. We listeners don’t interrupt the story-teller because we don’t want to break the mood; we want to hear the whole story. The program features polyphonic masterworks by J.S. Bach and Max Reger, the Italian lyricism of Giuseppe Tartini and exquisite short stories by George Rochberg.”
