Hear the words that changed the world forever! Rosendale Theatre, Rosendale, NY invites one and all to A Reading of the Declaration of Independence, a FREE family event, on Wednesday, July 4 at 9:30 a.m., sponsored by BlueStone Press.

Twenty individuals have been selected to be readers, all of them were chosen as an acknowledgement of their exemplary service to our community. Already the following have accepted this honor: Lynn Archer, Naheeda Hamdan, Judy Hauser, Marie-Louise Johnson, Etsuko Kizawa, Richard Lanzarone, Alison Quin, Christopher Smith, Mary Sommer, Charles Tadduni, and John Wackman. Edward Schoelwer, the organizer of the event says, “As Americans living in the 21st century it is vital for us to be reminded why the Revolution was fought and why to this day the Declaration of Independence serves to guide us as a statement of united values.”

The half-hour experience will be hosted by Anita Peck and Lori Childers;Chelsea Miller will read excerpts from Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s Declaration of Sentiments (first read at the Seneca Falls Convention in July 1848) and Rosendale Improvement Association Brass Band and Social Club will bring the gathering to a rousing musical finish. Afterwards share in a cup of coffee and a breakfast-birthday cake fresh from The Rosendale Cafe.
