Asbury Shorts, New York’s longest running short film exhibition, returns to the historic Rosendale Theatre in Rosendale, New York on Saturday June 10, 2017 with their touring 36th Short Film Concert. The first film blasts on to the screen at 7:30pm. The Rosendale Theatre, Asbury Shorts USA and Ulster County Tourism are co-presenting this special non-competitive showcase of award-winning short films from the past and present.  The Asbury Short Film Concert is recommended for ages 16 and way way above.

Asbury Shorts combines award-winning films from past years with new international festival honorees, creating a rare opportunity for audiences to see world-class short films on a real cinema screen as opposed to You Tube, smart phones or computers. Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman (JUNO, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking and Young Adult) calls Asbury Shorts: “The best short film show I’ve ever seen.” The highly entertaining evening features the best in comedy, drama and animation. Highlights of the June 10th showcase include:

“Reaching Home” a new drama from Connecticut based filmmaker Kenneth Murphy. Emmy & Tony Award winning actress Debra Monk stars as a recent widow who has to make tough decisions with her family while dealing with grief.

“The Lunch Date” returns to The Asbury Short Film Concert after many years. A former Academy Award Winner for Best Live Action Short Film directed by Adam Davidson, who is now a prolific television director on such series as “Fear The Walking Dead” and “Hell on Wheels.”

“Dad in Mum” is a global festival favorite from director Fabrice Bracq of France.  Two very young girls are listening to some strange sounds emanating from their parents bedroom in the middle of the night.

The Asbury Short Film Concert has been presented at: The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Lake Shore Theatre in Chicago, Summer Stage in Central Park, The Director’s Guild Theater in Manhattan, The AERO Theatre in Santa Monica, CA, Royal Festival Hall in London, U.K., The Vero Beach Museum of Art, Summer Stage in Central Park and the Leminske Theater in Berlin, Germany to name just a few of the prestigious venues where audiences have enjoyed these amazing films …including The Rosendale Theatre.
